SunSpec Modbus Workshop (Day 2 of 2021 Annual SunSpec Member Meeting)

Intended for software developers and implementers of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) networking solutions, the SunSpec Modbus workshop will provide instruction in the fundamentals of the Modbus protocol and SunSpec information models, including system architecture, register maps, discovery techniques, and supported information model types. By the end of this workshop, students will understand:<ul><li>The fundamentals of the Modbus protocol, including Modbus/RTU and Modbus/TCP variants.</li></ul><ul><li>The theory of operation of SunSpec Modbus including protocol fundamentals, system architecture, register maps, discovery techniques, and supported information model types.</li></ul><ul><li>How to implement an IEEE 1547 – 2018 compliant SunSpec Modbus device interface</li></ul><ul><li>How to implement SunSpec vendor specific models</li></ul><ul><li>Regulatory compliance and certification testing requirements</li></ul>Workshop participants will also become familiar with the SunSpec Dashboard 1547 Plus Pack software, an automated test environment for IEEE 1547.1 clause 5 (general type testing) and 1547.1 clause 6 (communication interoperability testing). Workshop participants are welcome to bring their own SunSpec Modbus implementations in order to take advantage of debugging opportunities and interoperability testing with others. Participants who wish to participate in interoperability testing will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.Participants of the SunSpec Modbus Workshop will also have the option to purchase the SunSpec SVP Dashboard 1547 Plus Pack. For this event only, we will include 4 hours of one-on-one training and support with your purchase of the software license. Members should receive a $3000 software discount code via email.
