Sunshine Day 2017 will be in the Snow Family Grand Atrium at Elon University's <A HREF="http://www.elon.edu/e-web/academics/communications/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">School of Communications</A>
In the morning, Raleigh media Lawyer Mike Tadych will explain how to obtain police video footage, including from body and dash cameras, under the new North Carolina law governing such records. Reporter Lisa Worf of WFAE in Charlotte will share her experience navigating the courts to obtain body camera video from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg Superior Court Judge Eric Levinson will discuss being one of the first judges in the state to review a petition for video. 
The luncheon will include a keynote speech by Attorney General Josh Stein on his vision for government transparency and the role of the N.C. Department of Justice. We will also be announcing winners of our third annual Sunshine Awards program. 
The afternoon will include panels on archiving and responding to requests for social media records, as well as what it means for a request to be fulfilled in a timely manner. 
Parking is available at The Oaks parking lot, which is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of Elon Commons Drive and North Williamson Avenue. Parking is approximately one and a half blocks north of the venue in the Snow Family Grand Atrium at 123 N. Williamson Avenue.
