Enjoy a specially narrated sunset cruise of Cape Ann’s coast and its six historic lighthouses, and support one of Cape Ann’s National Historic Landmarks! We can’t guarantee a perfect sunset, but we can guarantee a wonderful time. BYO picnic dinner or purchase one on board.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY: A ticket acknowledges that cruise ticket buyers and cruise passengers release and discharge the Town of Rockport, the Thacher Straitsmouth Islands Town Committee and the Thacher & Straitsmouth Islands Association from all responsibility, liability, claims and causes of action that result or could result from this cruise on the 7 Seas Whale Watch Privateer IV, and hereby assumes all risks associated with said cruise.

CRUISE DATE: Wednesday, July 17, 2024. This is a 3 hour evening cruise from 6:30-9:30pm.

DEPARTURE LOCATION: 7 Seas Whale Watch , 63 Rogers Street, Gloucester, MA, 01930, Please arrive 15 minutes before the 6:30pm departure.

PARKING: A public self-parking lot is next to the departure location.

CONTACT ORGANIZER: For questions and special needs, call the Thacher & Straitsmouth Islands Association, 617-599-2590 daily from 9AM to 5PM. Leave your name and phone number and your call will be returned. Please do not contact 7 Seas Whale Watch except for specific questions about the cruise ship.

TICKETS: Each passenger must have a ticket with a QR Code. The QR Code will be scanned to board the cruise ship. NO passenger will be admitted without a ticket. Tickets may be purchased up to 24 hours before departure. NO tickets will be sold on the dock immediately prior to departure. Cruise tickets are only available on-line at this Eventbrite site. This is a fundraiser and all General Admission tickets are $75.00, regardless of age or membership level in the Thacher & Straitsmouth Islands Association.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY: Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the Wednesday cruise date will receive a full refund of the ticket price of $75.00. Cancellation for weather is at the discretion of the boat operator, 7 Seas Whale Watch. If the Cruise is cancelled, you will receive a full refund of the ticket price plus Eventbrite fees. Best efforts will be taken to notify you of cancellation prior to Cruise departure.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT? The galley on board the Privateer IV will be open during the cruise to purchase food and drinks. Passengers may bring their own food and beverages on board.

ROUTE OF THE CRUISE: Departing from 7 Seas Whale Watch, 63 Rogers St, Gloucester Harbor, 01930, the cruise travels through Gloucester Harbor, past the Ten Pound Lighthouse, around the Dog Bar to leave Gloucester Harbor. Next is the Eastern Point Lighthouse, then the Thacher Island Twin Lights, the Straitsmouth Lighthouse, around Halibut Point to the Annisquam Lighthouse where the Annisquam River meets Ipswich Bay. The cruise ship will turn around at the Annisquam River follow the same route in reverse, and passengers can enjoy the views again. The cruise ends where it began at the 7 Seas Whale Watch dock.

The Thacher and Straitsmouth Island Association (TSIA) was established in 1981 by the Thacher Straitsmouth Islands Town Committee (TSITC) as a non-profit group dedicated to raising funds for the restoration and on-going maintenance of Thacher and Straitsmouth Islands. On Thacher Island, the Town of Rockport owns the southern end of the Island and manages it via the TSITC and TSIA. The northern end is owned by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (U.S.F&WS) and is managed by the Town under an agreement with U.S.F&WS. On Straitsmouth Island, the Town of Rockport owns the northern end of the island and manages it via the TSITC and TSIA. The southern end is owned by Mass Audubon Society (MAS) and is managed by the Town under an agreement with MAS.
