About this event
Join Many Languages One Voice for five free, monthly creative storytelling workshops this May-September! Throughout each session, we will examine contemporary pieces around a theme and then generate our own work based on prompts and guided discussion. This month, we will explore poems and prompts that think through the theme of community and the ways we, as unique and individual puzzle pieces, make up one larger, unified whole with Ofelia Montelongo. You do not need to be an experienced writer or poet to participate—beginners, journal-ers, and writers all welcome.
About the Teaching Artist:
Ofelia Montelongo is a bilingual writer from Mexico. She received a BA in accounting and finance, an MBA, and a BA in English and Creative Writing. She has a MA in Spanish and Latin American Literature from the University of Maryland. Her work has been published in Latino Book Review, Los Acentos Review, Rio Grande Review, and elsewhere. She was the 2019 Writer’s Center Undiscovered Voices Fellow. She currently teaches at the University of Maryland and was a PEN/Faulkner writer in residence in Washington, D.C.
