About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

No gimmicks, no agenda, just a desire to come together and face the future of what it means to be alive. This is not a support group or a counseling session. We meet as equals, as human beings, as mortals, sharing a slice of time and cake on our inexorable march towards death.

Refreshments will be provided.

Suggested donation is between $10-20 to mitigate the costs of the event, but no-one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The second of three events in our summer Death Picnic series.

Summer Death Picnic #1- June 15 in McCarren Park

Summer Death Picnicn #3- September 21 in Central Park

Frequently asked questions

What is a death picnic, or a death cafe for that matter?

An informal, open space to come with your thoughts, questions, and curiosity around end-of-life. A death picnic is just a death cafe that is also a park hang.

Is this a grief support group?

No. While grief often comes up, we have other offerings for people who are actively grieving.

What should I bring?

We will provide some light snacks and have a few blankets to sit on, but feel free to bring something to sit on or any favorite treats!
