I'm nervous I can't actually do this. How hard is it to start?

This is the question I hear most, and I promise, it's built to be doable. The 5K program has three levels: walking, walk/run, and running, so you start exactly where you are.

Do I need special running shoes or apparel?

Accepted Answer

Not to get started! Just wear something comfortable you can move in and shoes you already have. Once you get your Program Handbook, you'll find lots of helpful information to guide you on choosing the type of shoes and clothing that work best for you.

Question 3

Is there an age requirement?

There's no age requirement — all ages are welcome! The one thing to know is that anyone under 18 will need an adult present at the group runs.

Question 4

5K or 5 Mile — which should I pick?

Totally up to you. Most beginners start with the 5K, and there's an intermediate plan ready if you want to step up to the 5 Mile. You don't have to decide right now, and I'm happy to help you choose.

Question 5

Is strength training included?

Accepted Answer

Yes! A strength training program is part of the program, with video instruction from Coach Misty so you'll know exactly what to do and how to do it safely.
