Tri-City Band Corps: Summer 2024 Cadet Regiment Program

Tri-City Band Corps is excited to announce the nth year of its Cadet Regiment. We had over 200 students participate last summer, and we hope to see that number grow. Space is limited so register soon!

Note: This program is open to children grades 6-9 in the 24-25 school year. Please do not register your child if they are younger than that.

Both San Jose, Fremont, and Pleasonton programs register here. Please select your location at checkout.

What is Our Mission?

This program will help students learn the fundamentals of marching so that they are more prepared for marching band in high school. Our instructors include high school marching band coaches, upperclassmen high school students, and even several judges from the Northern California Band Association (NCBA), California Color Guard Circuit (CCGC), and Drum Major International (DMI). We hope this program will help introduce the marching band to students and help them realize how fun it can be. The highest performing marching bands, throughout the state, typically start marching competitions in Jr. High. By offering this program to Jr. High students, we are preparing them as individuals and helping the whole high school program succeed in band reviews.

Who is this program for?

Band Students: Our Cadet Regiment is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students for the 24-25 school year. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE IN THE SCHOOL BAND TO JOIN AND NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Dance, Choir, Orchestra, & Others: Nearly all of our Color Guard members are from Dance, Choir, Orchestra, and other non-band students because marching band can help fulfill their PE credits, allowing them more time in their class schedule and take 4 years of performing arts and foreign languages. Students with martial arts and dance backgrounds are highly recommended to join, although this background is not necessary. If you participated in our Eternal Regiment program, this would also be the next step for you.

Why get involved?

  • Make new friends from other schools
  • Have fun performing in front of thousands of audience members, which is more than any concert program.
  • Learn how to march, so you’re more prepared for high school. This will, in turn, help make our high school programs stronger, leading to more awards throughout the school year.
  • Students who do high school marching band can earn a PE waiver which frees up their schedule for other classes.
  • Gain leadership opportunities! Students run just about everything in Tri-City Band Corps.

Organized by

The Tri-City Band Corps (TBC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to provide performance opportunities for students to supplement those offered by local school marching bands. Since then we've grown our mission to helping develop younger students in preparation for high school marching band, and also helping high school aged students pursue college education.

TBC currently has over 500 members from over two dozen Bay Area schools involved with our various programs. What makes us stand out is that our organization is all student led. Current high school students run just about every aspect of TBC from uniform management, to running rehearsals, fundraisers, and even composing some of the songs we play! Best of all, our summer and fall programs are FREE! Our fundraising and donations have been able to cover all of our costs from uniforms to instruments, and instructors!

  • Hastati Regiment - Elementary beginning band program
  • Cadet Regiment - Junior High Marching Band for rising 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students
  • Royal Regiment - High School Marching Band for students who already have some marching experience
  • Eternal Regiment - Jr high winter Color Guard unit competing in the CCGC circuit
  • Tri-City Winter Guard - Independent A class winter guard competing in the CCGC circuit
  • Tri-City Percussion (Vanguard Regiment) - Open Class Winter Percussion Unit competing in NCPA, and WGI
  • Tri-City Percussion A - Independent A class winter percussion competing in CCGC and NCPA circuits
  • International Trips - Every couple of years, TBC has been fortunate to be invited to perform abroad, providing a unique performance opportunity for students, many of whom are not able to do so with their other groups. In 2016 we performed in the London New Year's Parade, and in 2018, the Rome New Year's Day Parade.
  • Officer Board (Student Leadership) - TBC is run by a team of students who volunteer to take on just about every responsibility of running a marching band, making for a great leadership experience to put on college apps!
