Session Details:

Are you prepared for an executive team member to make a sudden transition? In a stress-free world, every organization has a process in place to weather a sudden transition without unnecessary hassle and uncertainty. Are you living in that world? If not, don’t worry. In Mission Capital’s Succession Management Workshop, you will discuss strategies for building just such processes, develop a complete emergency/ or defined departure CEO departure plan, and network with other nonprofits to learn from collective knowledge.

During Training, you will:

  • Develop a shared understanding of how succession management as a practice creates sustainability for organizations and leaders
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities for Board of Directors, CEO/EDs and other organizational leaders in succession management
  • Understand how power and equity are embedded into succession management plans and policies
  • Understand definitions of succession plans (emergency and defined departure) and uncover and examine assumptions related to CEO/ED succession plans with a tools and resources to complete an emergency plan
  • Engage in collective learning, network building and resource sharing amongst participants as it relates to succession management

FACILITATORS

Katelyn Lowrey serves as the Director of Consulting, Learning and Leadership at Mission Capital where she oversees the consulting and training services departments. Her core areas of focus are within nonprofits strategic planning, governance, leadership transitions and collaborations. She has supported Central Texas nonprofit to develop succession plans, navigate leadership transitions and hire their next CEO/ED.Prior to joining Mission Capital in 2015, she served as a Program Associate for the Communities Foundation of Texas and a high school English teacher for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, NC.

Katelyn earned a master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s in Science from Indiana University Bloomington in Human Development & Family Studies with minors in Psychology and Sociology. She serves as secretary and governance chair for Austin Partners in Education.

Robin Llewellyn is a Senior Consultant with the Consulting, Learning and Leadership team at Mission Capital. She is an experienced talent development and human resources professional with a background in leadership development and employee training. Robin is passionate about learning and helping people grow.

Robin holds a BFA from The University of Texas and an MFA from Florida State University. She utilizes her theater arts background to facilitate interactive training, focusing on learning through creative activities and fun. Robin has extensive experience with DISC, Emotional Intelligence, and Action Learning coaching. For the past six years at Mission Capital, Robin’s work has included leadership development, team dynamics, coaching and feedback, connections, and strong communication and conflict awareness and mitigation.

Prior to working at Mission Capital, Robin owned and operated RLL Consulting, a talent development and management consulting firm. She also served as Senior Director of Talent and Development at Goodwill Central Texas.

Sunjit Khamba is a Senior Consultant on the Consulting, Learning and Leadership team at Mission Capital. He brings 8 years of experience designing and facilitating training programs for nonprofit leaders serving communities of color, through principles heavily guided by justice, equity, diversity, decolonization, and inclusion (JEDDI). Sunjit also serves on the leadership team of a nonprofit organization called Jelly Social, which supports the success of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) professionals. In his role, Sunjit is responsible for the development of impact programming, and facilitation of those programs for Jelly Social’s community of 4000+ BIPOC professionals. This has given Sunjit a great deal of experience leading BIPOC community groups, and the facilitation techniques required to ensure their full, equitable, and brave participation. At Mission Capital, Sunjit focuses on community-co designed strategic planning processes, supporting BIPOC leaders through WeThrive, board development and equitable leadership practices.
