Successfully Navigating the "Interactive Process"

The Employment Round Tables were begun in 1983 in partnership with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH). The Employment Round Tables are composed of volunteers from businesses, public and private employers, and from labor organizations. Their purpose is to create an awareness of the problems of discrimination, harassment and retaliation in employment. The goal of the Employment Round Tables is to reduce discrimination and promote equal opportunity.THE OBJECTIVES OF THE EMPLOYMENT ROUND TABLES ARE TO:Enhance communications between the Department and the public.Provide forums that promote education, advocacy and understanding of anti-discrimination laws and practices.Initiate cooperative programs that preserve civil rights and expand equal opportunity in employment.

Northern California Employment Round Table (NCERT)

A webinar on successfully navigating the interactive process and supporting the ongoing employment of individuals with disabilities.

Presented by the Northern California Employment Round Table, this deep dive into the interactive process will provide guidance for employers navigating challenging aspects of disability accommodations. The program includes an overview of resources available to assist employers as well as structured demonstrations on how to have difficult conversations, get around barriers in the process, and support positive outcomes. Topics including leave as an accomodation, service and support animals, fragrance and chemical sensetivity disabilities, and challenges related to &quot;invisible&quot; disabilities will be discussed in depth.The program will also include an update from the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), which will cover COVID-19 guidance, updates to the DFEH website, and recent case decisions.
