NOTSL is pleased to sponsor the following speakers and presentations:

Patrick Conners, Catalog Librarian at Akron Public Library, will present “Generative AI vs. the Catalog Librarian: Practical and Not-So Practical Uses of AI." This presentation will explore how generative AI tools like Gemini and ChatGPT can be used in daily tasks and how they might be included in your workflow.

Chloe Misorski, Cataloging Librarian at the Ingalls Library at the Cleveland Museum of Art, will present “Labels in the Recipe Box: Considerations for Physical and Digital Access.” The Ingalls Library at the Cleveland Museum of Art has undergone a project to increase collection diversity by acquiring photobooks by marginalized photographers. To support access for different types of patrons, these materials require a specialized workflow from acquisitions, to cataloging, to processing. Chloe will describe additional metadata access points for these collections as well as editing the display of metadata to users. She will also discuss how these materials receive specialized processing because of their dual role as library materials and art objects. These decisions support the specialized access needs of museum professionals as well as the access needs of the general public.

Sandy Jelar Elwell, Director of Collection and Technical Services and Libby McCuan, Technical Services Librarian at Cleveland Public Library, will present “Picture Book Categories: Adapting Technical Services Workflows for Public Service.” In 2022, Cleveland Public Library implemented assigning categories to picture books. Sandy and Libby will discuss the details and impact of this decision for CPL staff and patrons.

At the Business Meeting (open to all attendees!), officer election results will be announced. The candidate statements will be distributed to attendees one week prior to the meeting. The elections will occur electronically on the morning of the meeting.

Registration fee, which includes continental breakfast and boxed lunch, will be $60 or $30 for students and retirees. For all registrations, please be aware Eventbrite charges a non-refundable processing fee that will affect the total purchase price.
