Sanctuary Jiu-JitsuMadison, WI
Saturday, July 16-Sunday, July 17, 2022  •  10 AM-1 PM
Overview

Submit the Stigma Seminar with Caio Terra Black Belt Kristina Barlaan and Cobrinha Black Belt Erin Herle.

Sanctuary Jiu-Jitsu is pleased to announce a collaborative event.

Many people find mental health benefits from the pursuit of Jiu-Jitsu. It can help to alleviate the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Beyond the physical activity, the mental exercise of Jiu-Jitsu, along with the community that a training environment provides can be of profound help to those that struggle with all manner of mental health issues.

Submit the Stigma is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission statement is about using Jiu-Jitsu as a platform for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. In addition to highlighting Jiu-Jitsu as a possible outlet, the goal is to destigmatize these issues, promoting open discussion so that those that would benefit from mental health assistance feel more comfortable seeking care, and the signs of struggle are easier to spot.

Please join us on Saturday, July 16 from 10 to noon for a joint seminar featuring both Cobrinha Black Belt Erin Herle and 1st Degree Caio Terra Black Belt Kristina Barlaan. This seminar is donation based with a minimum donation of $75, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Submit the Stigma.

In addition to her work with Cobrinha, Erin has also worked extensively with other legendary instructors such as Rômulo Barral and Marcelo Garcia. She is the founder of Submit the Stigma.

Kristina is an accomplished competitor, and instructor. The creator of Inspire: Women’s Jiu-Jitsu Community Mat, Kristina strives to always be a role model in Jiu-Jitsu by working with the community on causes she believes in. From women's empowerment to the awareness and acceptance of mental illness, Kristina uses her platform to inspire people on and off the mats.

The seminar will take place at Sanctuary Jiu-Jitsu.

Attendance is capped at 60 so make sure you get your tickets early.

We hope to see you there.
