Studio on the Half Shell 2017

A Studio in the Woods, a program of Tulane University located in an endangered bottomland hardwood forest on the banks of the Mississippi River in New Orleans, is dedicated to forest preservation, science-inspired art education and providing a peaceful retreat for artists and scholars who are interested in tackling challenging issues with imagination, power and resourcefulness. The Studio has an established record of pairing land preservation with intimate artist residencies, connecting artists to the local community through creative discourse centered on environmental and social challenges.

A Studio in the Woods

Studio on the Half Shell is a fundraiser for A Studio in the Woods hosted by Ellen Johnson and Ronnie Swartz in their 1958 modernist home in the historic Lake Vista neighborhood. The event will feature oysters and seafood by James Beard award-winning Pêche Chef Ryan Prewitt, music by Jazz cellist Helen Gillet, and special guest artists.
