About this event

  • 7 hours

Join us for our spring Strong Girls United Pickleball Fundraising Tourney, hosted at Seacoast Pickleball Club!

We run this tournament twice a year (June and October!) and it supports us enormously in funding for services and materials for our programs both locally and regionally.

This is a very fun recreational fundraiser (but can be competitive too!) We are using a tournament system called a Q Board! This provides structure so that everyone will get the same number of games and will get to play with multiple partners.

Register each individual that will play!

We will do this tournament in THREE waves. Each wave has space for just 16 people.

  • Mens Wave: 8:00am
  • Womens Wave: 11:15am

(open division was canceled due to not having enough #s)

There will be top 4 in each wave who will play in a center court "finals" match at the end of their wave.

You need to arrive by the start time indicated for your Wave. The end time is estimated to be about three hours (but we sometimes finish earlier).

SHIRTS!:

All participants in will get a Strong Girls United shirt!

FUN FACT:

June 23, 2024 is the Anniversary of Title IX which has been instrumental in providing opportunities for girls and women to participate in sport.

How the tournament is structured:

  • Registration is for the individual (not as a team)! You will be assigned a number 1-16 and be placed on a court with 3 other people.
  • Games will go to 9, win by 2.
  • Each round you will stay on the same court with a group of 4 and play 3 games (1 game with each other person as your partner).
  • There will be 3 total rounds (for 9 total games each!!)
  • Points are tallied after each game and round on our "Q Board"
  • The top 4 scorers at the end of the 3 rounds will play in a finals on the main court!
  • Prizes for winners!

Not really sure about these rules? Don't worry. Lani will keep track of everything and tell you where to go and what to do. Just show up ready to play lots of pickleball and have some fun!

Donations:

  • We will continue the fun optional donations for the "forgot the score" jar and thanks to John Libby a "hit the tape" jar :)
  • We will have additional shirts for sale ($20 each) . Reminder that each participant will get to a shirt also

Thank you to the Sponsoring Facility, Seacoast Pickleball Club!

The Seacoast Pickleball Club is donating 4 courts for this event. We are grateful for their support!

What will this support?

Strong Girls United is a nonprofit founded by York native Lani Silversides (Boardman). The organization's mission is to empower girls through sports, mentorship, and mental health programming. They work with colleges and universities around the country to teach and empower female athletes to mentor and coach girls in their area. Fundraising from this event is going toward supporting our development and distribution of our upcoming FAM (Female Athlete Mentorship) program and curriculum that suports coaches and mentors through giving activities related to mental skills and mental health. It also supports materials for our local and regional programs covering those programs that serve underserved communities and/or are offered for free!
