Strong Bodies Strength Training Program
Join us for a 12-week strength training group program that helps you build strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility.
Mondays & Thursdays
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
April 13 - July 2, 2026
Parowan Senior Center
StrongBodies is an evidence-based strength training program designed to help adults build strength, balance, and flexibility to help prevent injuries from falls, slips, strains, and sprains. The 12-week program includes progressive resistance training, balance training, and flexibility exercises. Classes are Mondays and Thursdays, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., and led by Iron County USU Extension faculty. The program is free and open to adults ages 18 years and older. Registration ends April 13 at 9 a.m.
The program helps participants progress to a level where they are stronger, more flexible, and have better balance. This is achieved by increasing resistance (e.g., weight) and decreasing reliance on assistance (e.g., chair) to perform key exercises with dumbbells, ankle weights, and a floor mat. All equipment is provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. All abilities are welcome, as this program helps you progress at your pace and activity level (with lots of encouragement, of course!).
You will be encouraged to track your progress throughout the program using a provided tracking sheet. Upon registration, you will receive an email about a voluntary informational session that you can attend to learn more about the program and ask questions. Even if you can't make the session, we'll email everything to you afterward.
For questions and more information, please contact Taryn Wahlquist at 435-586-8132 or taryn.wahlquist@usu.edu
