Stress Management for Lawyers: Building Resilience and Avoiding Burnout
Learn how to manage your stress with Linda Benoit, LICSW, ICADC, CADC
Research studies show that a high percentage of lawyers are dissatisfied with their work. Reasons for work dissatisfaction are stress related and include long hours, conflicting demands on time and energy, and the exacting and confrontational nature of the work. Many lawyers are leaving the profession, and it appears that job burnout is implicated in the exodus. Lawyers have an unusually high rate of suicide and drug and alcohol problems, compared to other professions. This underscores the importance of understanding and dealing effectively with stress in the work environment.
Linda will help us understand the difference between eustress and destress, workplace stress specific to lawyers, and job burnout. She'll then provide resilience building techniques for managing the stress sequence with tips and additional supports for lawyers.
We'll provide coffee and snacks.
