About this event

  • 2 hours

Streamside stewardship activities like removing weedy plants and planting natives can have many environmental benefits for humans and wildlife in our region.

Join KCD and Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group to tour the Fenster Park restoration project and learn all about weedy and native plants, from identification to removal techniques and plant selection. Then we will visit a nearby residence to see what these projects look like in a backyard and talk about resources available to help homeowners complete these projects.

Topics include:

  • Common riparian weeds, why are they detrimental, how to identify and control different species.
  • Native plants: identifying local species, understanding growing requirements, and sourcing plant material.
  • Resources available to help steward your streamside.
  • Project planning, permits, and critical area regulations.
