About this event

Calling all home cooks and strawberry lovers!

Join us at the 1st Annual Strawberry Jam-Boree, where home cooks will showcase their homemade strawberry jam recipes and compete for fun prizes and the honor of being the “Jam Master of AOOA.”

If competing is not your jam (see what we did there?!), then we invite you to join us as a taster for the opportunity to sample an array of mouthwatering jams and cast a vote for your favorite!

At the end of the event, two winners will be selected: one chosen by our celebrity judges and one people’s choice. Celebrity judges include Nikki Cavanaugh, co-founder of Rushing Duck Brewing Company; Mike DiMartino, chef/owner of The Landmark Inn; Tom Donovan, General Manager at Wildflower Farms - Auberge Resorts Collection; Laurent Dupal, chef/owner of Ceci Cela pastry shop, NYC; Pierre Landet, chef/three-time winner of the D’Artagnan Cassoulet Wars; Sébastien Larroque, CEO of Pruneaux d'Agen, France; and Ciarán McGoldrick, Food Network Chopped Champion, chef/owner of Glenmere Farm.

Each will receive a trophy plus a delightful basket filled with farmstand treats and culinary delights to enjoy at home, including: AOOA in-house distilled liquor, vegetables, AOOA merch, and D’Artagnan charcuterie.

All revenue will go towards our Fresh Food for All program, which combats food insecurity by supplying nutritious, organic produce to local Orange County food banks and feeding our neighbors in need. AOOA donates fresh organic produce during our growing season (March to November) and pastured eggs over the winter.

Space is limited, so register early!

Contestant registration is open through June 15.

Contestants will receive:

  • 1 pound of AOOA strawberries for pick-up from June 14-16
  • a one-time 25% discount on ingredients from the Farm Stand
  • 1 complimentary AOOA strawberry fizz (or other flavor) on the day of the competition
  • space and tasting supplies to present their jam to both celebrity and public judges, with on-site support from AOOA staff.

Contestants are required to:

  • submit 16 ounces of their unique home-kitchen strawberry jam recipe for consideration (celebrity judges will evaluate the jams on taste, appearance, and texture)
  • bring two printed copies of their recipe
  • set up their tasting table (we'll provide spoons and focaccia for tasting) and stay for the duration of the event to talk about their jam!
