Course Description:

This 12.5-hour self-paced course equips educators with effective strategies to support children experiencing selective mutism, a severe anxiety disorder characterized by a child's inability to speak in certain social settings. Through an in-depth exploration of the underlying factors of selective mutism, participants will learn to develop a sensitive and inclusive classroom environment. The course emphasizes hands-on approaches, allowing educators to craft intervention strategies that foster communication and inclusivity.

Course Outcomes:

  • Analyze the psychological and environmental factors contributing to selective mutism, promoting a deeper understanding of this complex anxiety disorder.
  • Develop comprehensive classroom strategies and individualized support plans that encourage verbal communication and active participation from students with selective mutism.
