Head to downtown St. Cloud this summer to read through children's stories posted in our local business' windows. This program runs throughout the summer so be sure to check out all 8 books.

Book pages are posted on Monday for visitors to read throughout the week. Join us on designated Saturdays to meet the author, participate in costume contest where you could win tickets to the St. Cloud Twin, enjoy a treat from our host business, and be entered into a drawing to win tickets to Wild Florida for attending all 8 events. The first 20 families at each event will receive a free copy of that week's book.

This week join us at Kuppa Thyme Tea Room at 10:30 a.m. to meet author Doris Vega Baez.

Doris Vega Baez, a passionate Puerto Rican author, draws upon her love for children, education, and preserving cultural heritage in her writing. Inspired by the history and culture of the Taino people, Doris embarked on creating a children's book that empowers young readers to embrace their own culture and appreciate diversity. With a background in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida, she skillfully combines her educational expertise with her writing skills to create an engaging and authentic story. Through extensive research, including active participation in online social media groups and studying articles and books, Doris ensures the accuracy and authenticity of the Taino representation in her book. She believes that the peaceful Taino people of the past hold valuable lessons for today's society, such as their deep connection to nature, respect for community, and harmonious existence. Doris's ultimate goal is to ignite curiosity, appreciation, and a sense of cultural pride in young readers, encouraging them to explore their heritage and cultivate empathy and understanding for diverse cultures.

You can find her book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
