Class Descriptions (Four 2 hour classes)

In this class, we will focus on all the tools available to build and maintain tension across an entire manuscript. We will work to strengthen character motivations, obstacles and stakes and learn how to avoid common pitfalls that cause tension to drain out. We will discuss various types of conflict, inciting incidents, subplots, backstory and the ways in which plot and character arcs can spark against each other. Our focus is on practical application, generating new work, and bringing more clarity to your masterpiece-in-progress. Open to fiction and memoir writers at any stage of drafting.
