Stop the Bleed

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign developed to train citizens to give lifesaving care during bleeding emergencies before professional help arrives.
An injured person can die from uncontrolled bleeding within five minutes. Those nearest to someone with life threatening bleeding are best positioned to provide initial care.  
This 1.5 hour class will teach citizens the basics in stopping severe bleeding and includes hands on practice. 
Upon completion, participants will be able to:

Describe the progressive strategy for controlling hemorrhage.
</LI>
<LI>
Demonstrate wound packing and learn about topical hemostatic dressings.
</LI>
<LI>
Explain the rationale for early use of a tourniquet for life-threatening extremity bleeding.
</LI>
<LI>
Demonstrate the appropriate application of a tourniquet to the arm and leg.
</LI>
</UL>
CLASS IS LIMITED TO 14 PEOPLE.
