About this event

  • 2 hours

Join the League of Women Voters of Albany County at historic Lark Hall for our inaugural event to establish the Stephen Winters Memorial Fund. We invite you to join the Honorary Comittee, make a donation or RSVP for general admission.

Stephen Winters was a champion for his community and a dedicated member of the League of Women of Voters. He brought enthusiasm and care to his advocacy. Stephen’s light remains and will continue to be a beacon for others by virtue of this fund and the work it will support.

In honor of Stephen, the League of Women Voters of Albany County (LWVAC) is establishing a Memorial Fund in his name. The Stephen Winters Memorial fund will support League volunteers as they endeavor to do what Stephen found so very important - voter education and outreach, and voter registration.

Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy is at the core of the LWVAC mission. This includes reaching out to Albany high schools to pre-register them ahead of reaching legal voting age as well as educating them about voting and civic participation. League members register new citizens and visit people in jail to ensure all understand their rights and are able to vote. And, each year LWVAC participates in National Voter Registration Day, fanning out across the county to register voters. With your support we can accomplish even more.

Please, join us in honoring Stephen’s memory and advancing the League’s mission.
