STEMteachersNYC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that cultivates excellence in STEM teaching and promotes deep understanding and success for students through innovative, teacher-led professional development. Our weekend workshops for teachers are offered during the school year and multi-week workshop intensives occur in the summer. We welcome and encourage teachers from across the globe, the US, and the local New York City area!STEMteachersNYC is registered as a Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) provider with the New York State Education Department.STEMteachersNYC delivers professional development workshops for teachers, by teachers, about teaching, since 2011. STEM Teachers of New York City, Inc. (STEMteachersNYC) is an approved CTLE Sponsor (ID#23385), and vendor for the New York City Department of Education (#STE-068881); MTAC Qualified. Pre-service teachers may attend for free.STEMteachersNYC was founded in the summer of 2011 by a group of educators as a teacher-led study, support, and professional development group.  STEMteachersNYC membership has grown at over 30% per year and now stands at over 1,600 members. STEMteachersNYC is an affiliate of the American Modeling Teachers Association.

STEP UP: Physics Together coffee hour followed by a "Energy First" professional learning workshop! AND EQUIPMENT GIVEAWAY!

NETWORKING + EQUIPMENT GIVEAWAY + PHYSICS WORKSHOP! STEP UP: Physics Together will host a coffee hour (9-10am) before the physics workshop. All workshop participants are invited to join us for coffee, juice and donuts. Learn more about STEP UP, connect or reconnect with STEP UP Advocates and enjoy the company of other science teachers!STEP UP is a national community of physics teachers, researchers, and professional societies. We design high school physics lessons to empower teachers, create cultural change, and inspire young women to pursue physics in college. STEP UP Advocates are teachers of physics working to inspire young women to pursue physics in their classrooms. There are approximately 60 STEP UP Advocates in the NYC region and STEP UP will open up applications for additional Advocates soon. Our Advocates are on the front lines of improving gender equity in physics! In the spirit of friendly competition, you will be given design specifications, a time limit, and materials to construct devices and measure their efficiencies. These challenges can serve not only as team-building activities for your students, but also provide examples to which you can refer as your students progress through their study of kinematics, dynamics, and conservation laws.
