STEMulate PR Regional Conference
As public relations continually evolves with changing cultural and technological advances in the United States, there is an ever-present need for strategic communicators in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. Better known by the acronym "STEM," these fields can cover anything from healthcare to nanotechnology and as messengers we hold a responsibility in bridging the gap between jargon-filled professional communities and publics that are influenced by their decision-making.
The Research Triangle Region is a unique haven for the development of STEM companies that is identified and named for the Research Triangle Park (RTP), located between the cities of Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham in central North Carolina. The three world-class universities fueling the economic growth in concert with RTP's innovative hub include the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University and Duke University.
At both UNC Chapel Hill and NC State, a pre-professional student organization resides that helps enhance the education, broaden the networks of and launch the careers for students interested in public relations and strategic communications.
Acting in a collaborative effort to showcase the Research Triangle to the national body of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Ryan Will (PRSSA at NC State) and Rachel Rhodes (Carolina PRSSA) have gathered their respective chapters together to co-host the STEMulate PR Regional Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina on March 23-24, 2018.
