<DIV>STEM Pathways is offering an exciting, engaging, hands-on opportunity for attendees to learn, explore, and gain confidence in STEM!  This event is free, but registration is required. Have a knack for biology?  Curious about the new engineering biology challenges and opportunities? Interested in doing research and competing against students from all over the world? This opportunity is perfect for educators, high school students, and undergrads with an interest and passion for STEM.</DIV>

<DIV><STRONG>What is the mini-Jamboree?</STRONG><BR>The STEM Pathways mini-Jamboree is an interactive day of learning to encourage accessibility to synthetic biology and iGEM to high school and undergrad students. STEM Pathways is sponsoring this event to:</DIV>
<UL>
<LI>Promote STEM and synthetic biology </LI>
<LI>Connect students with professors and graduate students doing great and impactful research </LI>
<LI>Explore how synthetic biology can be used to improve or solve some of the issues and challenges plaguing communities all over the world</LI>
<LI>Highlight the access to research opportunities which can lead to participation in competitions like the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition or iGEM </LI>
<LI>Connect students to programs in the community and on BU and MIT's campuses to continue development in STEM</LI>

<DIV><STRONG>When and where is the event?</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG></STRONG>Saturday, February 17, 2017 from 9:30AM to 4:00PM EST.  The location will be on the Boston University Campus. The address will be communicated to those who register. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>
<DIV><STRONG>What are the activities?</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV>Attendees can expect to: learn about synthetic biology; complete a free laboratory training; engage in hands-on activities and demonstrations; complete tours of research facilities; network with world renowned professors in synthetic biology; learn about iGEM and how you can participate in 2018!<BR><BR><STRONG>Who can participate?</STRONG><BR>High school students, undergraduate students, teachers, parents, STEM programs/organizations, STEM industries, previous iGEM teams, etc. Previous STEM experience is NOT required.</DIV>
</DIV>

<DIV><STRONG>Will food be provided during the event? </STRONG></DIV>
<DIV>Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for all registered attendees. Questions related to dietary restrictions are asked in the registration form. </DIV>
