Participants will learn about implementing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in the after school classroom. They will be given opportunities to see how inquiry based science and student directed learning is beneficial in the classroom. Participants will be shown how to use open ended questions appropriately when facilitating a STEM activity and how to categorize STEM activities as introductory, exploratory, or culminating.
Directions: Children's Village is located at 125 N. 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106, on 8th Street between Arch St. and Race St. There is no free parking at our site but plenty of lots you can pay to park in. There is also some limited metered street parking. We recommend that you take public transportation if possible. There are a number of buses you can take or we are located within walking distance of the following subway/regional rail stations:
-11th Street stop of Market-Frankford Line,
-Chinatown stop of Broad Street Line,
-East exit of Jefferson Station.
