Description

The 9th Creating Balance in an Unjust World Conference on STEAMM Education and Social Justice will take place in Honolulu, HI. Educators, parents, activists, community members and youth are invited to participate in our three-day conference exploring the connections between mathematics education and social justice. We will explore questions, challenges and opportunities to work toward social justice through math education.

You may do same day registration on-site at the conference.

More details on the sliding scale
Suggested registration fee is $100. All conference participants will have the same level of access to workshops and conference-related events regardless of how much they contribute on the sliding scale. Your contributions help offset the costs of the conference, pays for all of your meals (breakfast and lunches are included for Saturday and Sunday) and help to sustain future conferences. If you cannot contribute a registration amount to the conference, you may register free of charge; we strive to stay accessible to anyone interested.

Goals of the conference

  • Bring together educators, researchers, parents, activists, and students to collectively discuss social justice and math education
  • Foster new and innovative partnerships and collaborations
  • Create a space to share resources, lesson plans, best practices, and other classroom materials
  • Develop structures for ongoing discussion and working groups about math and social justice
  • Organize a national voice in the ongoing debate over math education reform
  • Plan actions, advocacy, future meetings, etc.
