S.T.E.M. Circle Time with Mod and Muse

Each week we will learn about the world around us through STE(A)M projects, stories, and circle time.

Your child will receive a notebook to document their STE(A)M learning. They will scrapbook, glue, color and protect their precious artwork and projects created each week.

Each week classes will spotlight one STEM topic.

April 19 or 20 How Does a Garden Grow? We'll learn about the life cycle and parts of the plants and flowers found in Virginia. We'll build a mini greenhouse and plant a few seeds to watch grow at home. A souvenir photo of the fun is included.

April 26 or 27 Cooking with S.T.E.A.M. Yes, that's right! Following a recipe can also be a science project. We'll learn about measuring and sequencing and make an edible calculator and yogurt parfait snack. (Ingredients provided: Greek vanilla flavored yogurt, strawberries, pineapple, grapes, honey graham crackers, chocolate wafer cookies and chocolate candies.) Then we'll create a mini recipe book with photo to take home.

May 3 or 4 Under the Sea. Let's take a dive into the mysterious world of oceans and seas, rivers and streams. We'll look at all kinds of underwater creatures and what we can do to help keep them safe. We'll document with a photo and color in our science notebook. Then we'll make a paper collage fishbowl to take home and share what was learned with family.

May 10 or 11 Let's Learn Some Magic. We'll take a look at the world and how there is magic happening every day. We will learn a few simple magic tricks to show family at home and take a photo to document what we've learned.
