About this event

  • 6 hours 30 minutes

American Family Insurance will host the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) & Dream Summit on Friday June 21, 2024 on the Milwaukee School of Engineering campus. This unique and inclusive event is designed to provide hands-on training of STEAM disciplines, while providing the financial security skills needed for the current and next generation. American Family’s event partner in Milwaukee is Young Enterprising Society focused on mobilizing resources to underserved communities.

Those who participate in the STEAM & Dream Summit will take part in a variety of programming that includes hands-on exercises with drones, robots, AI, financial planning, credit repair amongst other educational and wellness sessions led by influential professional and community leaders.

While the Summit is focused on youth, we invite the larger community to attend our keynote experience delivered by Pinky Cole and Derrick Hayes. Pinky Cole is a serial entrepreneur, brand strategist & visionary. She will speak to the adults, while her husband, Derrick Hayes, the founder and CEO of Big Dave’s Cheesestakes will interact with the youth. Both are scheuduled for 2:00 pm on June 21, 2024.

The STEAM & Dream Summits build on the STEAM & Dream programming that began in Milwaukee during COVID-19 in response to a lack of access to computers and STEM programming at home. In support of this programming, American Family Insurance made a $1.6 million investment in Urban Future Centers, a collective of community-based organizations committed to using their connections and resources to foster partnerships that build power and advance empowerment and equity for communities most impacted by physical, economic and social disparities.

Guidewire Software is proud to be joining with American Family this year to support this important initiative with volunteer and financial support. Guidewire Software is a software company based in San Mateo, California and offers an industry platform for property and casualty (P&C) insurance carriers in the U.S. and worldwide.
