STCC LifeHack 2016

Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) is committed to the advancement of students with an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The STEM Starter Academy at STCC provides students with a jump start to their college education during our summer program, and also operates programs (such as the Hackathon) that give students a chance to explore STEM and opens their eyes to all of the fascinating and growing disciplines within STEM. Throughout the academic year, the STEM Starter Academy provides opportunities for students to get involved and learn about STEM for themselves. STCC's <A HREF="http://www.stcc.edu/STEMacademy/whatisstem.asp" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">STEM Starter Academy</A> is hosting a 1.5 day event for people with ideas and energy to find practical and creative solutions to life's everyday hassles.

            where you’ll be set up in a high-tech workspace that will fuel your creative juices.

NOPE!!!!
If you want to try out the world of STEM just for fun, this is the place for you!

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
You must be between 18 and 800 years old and able to show proof of your age. 
 
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
TechSpring is located in the heart of Springfield at 1350 Main Street on the fifth floor.
We offer a free parking pass to the Civic Center Garage at 70 Falcons Way, Springfield, MA.

I'm really interested, but what can I do with my children? 
Be sure to answer the childcare questions in the registration form- we can help!
 
I noticed that Saturday's dinner mentioned guests- does that mean I can invite my family or friends? 
Absolutely!! Each participant is encouraged to invite 1 or 2 family members or friends to Saturday's dinner, presentations, and awards. It will be a really fun evening, and a great chance to share what you have created.
 
This looks great, but I need some accommodations to be able to participate. How can I be sure I'll be able to join in the fun?
No worries! Contact the STCC Office of Disability Services at (413) 755-4785 and they can assist. Usually they need a couple of weeks warning so please call them right away!

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Nope. Sorry  :-( 
 
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope- through the magic of technology, we can look you up! But you will need your ID to prove that you aren't someone posing as you. 
 
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Maybe. Maybe not.
If you can prove you are the intended participant and not an imposter or 5th dimensional being posing as a human, you're probably fine. 
 
What can/can't I bring to the event?
If you have a laptop, please bring it! We will have a couple of Dell Windows laptops as loaners for the event, but they are bare-bones machines. 
Bring your energy, your curiosity, your sense of play, your love of learning! 
Leave the boring world at the door!
