DeKalb County District 2 Commissioner Michelle Long Spears and her team are excited to present the second annual State of DeKalb Animals Address and Luncheon. This event will serve to update our community on the many advances and successes of the Save Our DeKalb Animals initiative over the last year.

The Save Our DeKalb Animals initiative acknowledges the difficulties of managing animal services and shelter issues in our community, including high intake, reduced adoptions, staffing shortages, and overcrowding at our shelter. The DeKalb County Animal Advisory Board’s “Plan for a Better Tomorrow” offers a practical and comprehensive approach to improving the lives of animals, managing the shelter population, and supporting pet ownership. By using this plan as a map to improve the animal welfare in DeKalb County, Save Our DeKalb Animals has been able to make a strong impact in each of the five goals of the "Plan for a Better Tomorrow."

Our event will feature many incredible speakers, including DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson; Cole Thaler, Pets in Crisis Support Program Manager for Atlanta Humane Society; Rebecca Guinn, Director of LifeLine Animal Services; Sonali Saindaine, CEO of DeKalb County Animal Advisory Board; Peggy McCarthy, Board Member of Georgia Pet Coalition; and Natasha Wallen, Director of DeKalb County Animal Enforcement Services.

A schedule of events will be posted soon!

Seating is limited and registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are not able to attend, kindly consider sending coworkers or staff members to represent your organization and be part of the movement to create a more compassionate and sustainable future for the animals of DeKalb.

Elected officials, we are honored to have you attend this event. Please let us know you will be attending so we can acknowledge your prescence to our guests.
