Art + DJ Party Celebrating the closing of Ricardo Mondragon's 'Negative Space?'

Saturday, July 31, 8pm-1am8-9pm: Art Installations by Ricardo Mondragon9pm-1am: DJ sets by DJ Tess, Jillian x and Quicktastic$10, BYOBRicardo Mondragon is an artist born and raised in Mexico City (1984). Ricardo graduated with a Post-Baccalaureate of Arts in Music Composition in Chicago, IL. Ricardo visualizes harmonies and materializes them. Frequencies, vibrations, rhythms, particles, modulations and more take form through sculptures, paintings, and installations. Each work is a representation of harmonic interactions, 3D Chladni, musical chords, intervals, standing waveforms, and frequency entanglement. Ricardo currently resides in Chicago, IL.DJ Tess moved to Chicago in 2002 from Baton Rouge as a visual artist, but eventually turned to the music scene for creative expression. In 2011, she co-founded award-winning dance party, Slo ‘Mo, and holds multiple residencies in the city, including Soho House and Disco. Tess is known for her vibrant energy on stage, mixing old school into contemporary music and all-around dance party magic. In addition to performing, Tess continues to create visually in her home studio— from watercolor portraits to website design, she consistently honors and serves her creative spirit and her community in a number of unique ways.Jillian x is a house DJ based out of Chicago, IL. A dancefloor queen with punchy, bangin’ house beats that don’t stop, unearthing the jackin’ sounds of underground house music you definitely haven’t heard before. An intense love for all styles of house music combined with a never-ending search for that ultimate track is what motivates Jillian’s sets. Jillian x has DJ’d throughout Chicago at venues Le Nocturne, Emporium, East Room, Sleeping Village, Hungry Brain, Cerise Rooftop and Upstairs at Virgin Hotels, Arbella, Logan11, and Elastic Arts, where she curates the quarterly art and DJ series ST(ART UP). Quicktastic is a music enthusiast. His fusion of nu-disco and funky house tunes emit a groove so catchy, your limbs won’t physically be able to resist bouncing to the rhythm. “Quick” doesn&#x27;t just perform, he takes you on a Quicktastic Voyage. Quicktastic has DJ’d around Chicago at Arbella, Cerise Rooftop and Upstairs at Virgin Hotels, G&amp;O Bar, Logan11, Osito’s Tap, and Elastic Arts. Catch Quicktastic at Arbella, 112 W Grand for the Quicktastic Voyage, his weekly residency featuring a rotating cast of guest DJs.ST(ART UP) is a quarterly series presented by Stylin&#x27; Out Network that brings together DJ’s, live performance, and visual art to celebrate and support the best underground talent in Chicago.
