About this event

  • 1 hour

Patients with or at risk of Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) come into contact with healthcare teams, who often fail to recognize those in need of help. Screening all patients for substance use disorders identifies patients in need of additional intervention, but clinicians face various challenges to make universal screening happen. Join us to learn more about OPEN's evidence-based work in selecting a screening tool, implementing a standardized screening process, and how providers can intervene to connect patients to treatment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the importance of universal screening for risk of SUD using a standardized tool
  • Demonstrate appropriate ways to screen a patient for risk of SUD that minimize the impact of stigma and other barriers to participation
  • Outline ways to connect patients with or at risk of SUD to treatment
