Stand Up Comedy Bootcamp

Stand Up Comedy Bootcamp

Kahle Community CenterStateline, NV
Overview

Get ready to sharpen your jokes and own the mic with a fun, no-pressure comedy crash course!

Lake Tahoe Improv presents Stand-Up Startup Comedy — a fun, supportive 5-class boot camp designed to help you build (or level up) a stand-up set and get stage-ready. Over five Thursdays, you’ll develop premises, write and punch up jokes, practice delivery and stage presence, and get real reps in a low-pressure, encouraging environment. Whether it’s your first time on the mic or you’ve hit a few open mics and want more structure, you’ll leave with stronger material, more confidence, and a clear path to performing.

Dates: Thursdays June 11, 18, 25, July 2, and 9th.
Final Showcase: Date TBD
Classes will be held at Kahle Rec Center and practice venues in South Lake Tahoe.

The class is a hybrid (online + in-person). Unlike improv, most of the growth happens *between* classes. You’ll get short (5–10 min) daily mini-missions—tiny activities, quick videos, and prompts to explore what you find fun, interesting, and frustrating in your real life.

“Frustration = Inspiration.”

"It's like therapy… but you get to laugh the whole time"

Class time is where we play: getting comfy in front of people, trying out the ideas you collected during the week, and build confidence. You can also Zoom in, and each week will be recorded so you can catch up if you miss a session.

(minimum 8 students for the class to happen)

About the Teacher:
Jake Tomorrow is an improv and stand-up coach who lives by: “Accept the reality you’re in (Yes) and make bold decisions (And),” turning fear into joy through comedy. After overcoming panic attacks in 2013 using mindfulness, improv, and stand-up, Jake has been panic-free ever since.

Jake trained with The Groundlings, UCB, and Freestyle Love Supreme, and has performed stand-up at Gotham Comedy Club (NYC) and Flappers (LA). In 2025, Jake placed 3rd in the Flappers Comedy Tournament. He has produced and led comedy communities and shows including Austin’s “Monday Night Hype,” co-producing “Over The Ledge,” and currently leading Improv ATX, Lake Tahoe Improv, and Improv Worldwide—teaching thousands of students through classes like “Best Friends and Belly Laughs.”

Catch him when he is teaching in Tahoe or performing in LA with Sock Hop(improv), stand up at Flappers or occasionally in the Crazy Uncle Joe show at Groundlings. Connect: jaketomorrow100@gmail.com | Instagram: @jaketomorrow100
