Live at the Aloha Stadium with special guests Chardonnay, BET, and DPAK

With over a decade of experience as an Artist and Storyteller, Stan Walker (tribe affiliations: Tūhoe, Ngāi TeRangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāti Pūkenga, Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Whakaue and Ngai Tahu) feels like it’s just the beginning.Stan stepped into the spotlight in 2009 and for the first seven years focused on exploring his sound and refining his skills as a singer and songwriter. The subsequent seven years were dedicated to deepening the connection with his cultural identity, reclaiming his life and health, and weaving this journey of reclamation into his artistic expression. The Tauranga, New Zealand native is now a multi platinum selling artist and the winner of prestigious awards in Australia and New Zealand. He has also developed an artistic ecosystem that has seen him create across mediums and add Author, Actor, Business Owner, Director, Fashion Designer and Producer to his repertoire.

Stan’s exploration and success across mediums and sounds is exceptional and the storyteller considers his various outputs as a journal and timeline of his life.

In 2020, Stan’s biography ‘Impossible: My Story’ was published by HarperCollins and it details the trials and tribulations he has faced in his personal life, especially during his childhood. His artistry has been shaped by everything he has been through, and he has appeared in feature films, directed and produced offerings that provide a glimpse into his life.

As a Fashion Designer and Entrepreneur, he is informed by a worldview that is community driven where he hopes his efforts contribute to better outcomes for future generations. As the creator continues on this regenerative creative journey and expansive career, he feels unapologetic about who he is and the message he has to share. In this era of his artistry, he is experiencing a cultural renaissance that is reflected in his releases, forthcoming music and the varying projects he is involved in and championing.Having found his place artistically and creatively, Stan is excited to continue introducing aspects of himself to fans and audiences globally.

For Stan, intentionality will remain at the core and creative expression will always be an extension of the journey of finding himself as he flows through multidimensional artistic seasons. He intends for his artistry to be a contribution to lineages of creators that imbue and offer hope, life, healing and joy.In paying homage to his Māori culture and tapping into the different aspects of his whakapapa (lineages), Stan finds fortification in his cultural identity, something he proudly refers to as his super power. He credits his participation in Te Matatini, a nationwide Māori performing arts festival and competition as a catalyst that deepened his Maoritanga in the last couple of years.

Now in a space of weaving together his artistic journey thus far and the deepening of his connection to his roots, Stan looks forward to breaking new artistic ground and nurturing the legacy he has been building over the years.
