This training is targeted to bystanders of stalking victimization in the Maryland community including family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and others who may encounter or want to support a stalking victim; however, all are welcome and may benefit from this training.

We will be covering basic information and introducing topics related to stalking.

Training Objectives include:

  • What a Bystander Is
  • What Stalking Is
  • Stalking Stereotyes
  • Victim Responses & Tactics
  • Bystander Role
  • Record Keeping
  • What a PPO is (Peace and Protective Orders)
  • Victims' Rights
  • Community Safety Planning

We will not be going in depth regarding stalking behaviors, victim response tactics, motivational types or Maryland Laws.

Please keep in mind, this training is interactive and will include discussions of stalking and scenarios of stalking victimization, therefore it may be triggering for some participants. You must be 18y/o or older to participate in this training (or enrolled in college with proper student ID and parental permission).

Is this training available virtually or hybrid?

Is this training disability accessible?

Yes, the building, parking-lot, and amenities are accessible. However, we do not have any interpreters scheduled or requested at this time. If you have specific questions or concerns, please contact us at info@juststalkingmdresources.org.

Is pre-registration required?

Yes, all participants will need to pre-register. You will be sent an agreement explaining the terms of participation as well as our disclaimer regarding our restrictions, such as we do not provide mental health and legal advice.

Should I bring a laptop or tablet?

Yes, BUT they are not necessary, you can bring a device for the interactive portion, we will have handouts available.

Will you be reviewing safety plans?

No, we will not review any individual safety plans with victims or bystanders. If you have a question or concern regarding a stalker you are managing we will work with you privately to the best of our ability.

Will I be required to discuss my experiences?

No, no one will be required to disclose their personal experiences and all participants are asked to keep disclosures confidential.
