Join us for an unforgettable winemaker's dinner, with winemaker Matt Peterson of Staglin Winemaker Dinner.

This multi-course pairing dinner showcases the amazing estate terrior of the Legendary Staglin Estate Vineyard with Chef Russell's French-Northwest inspired cuisine, in a seasonal and local tasting menu created by Chef Russell Lowell & his culinary team. Dinner starts @6:00pm.

Matt Peterson, Winemaker, Staglin Family Vineyard

Matt Peterson’s career in wine followed a circuitous route. After graduating with honors from USC in 2004, where he was a four-year member and captain of the Men’s swim team, he made his home in Los Angeles and traveled the country producing sporting events. This travel and the friendships made along the way introduced Matt to the wines of the world and inspired him to pursue a future in the industry. He made wine at home for several years, then pulled up roots and traveled to Chile to work his first vintage at Clos Apalta in the Colchagua Valley. This was followed by internships at Iuli Wines in Piedmont, Italy. Then Michel Rolland’s Le Bon Pasteur and Chateau Fontenil in Bordeaux. He flew across the world and worked at Bethany Wines in Australia’s Barossa Valley before he came back to California and found a home at Napa Valley’s Pahlmeyer. Tasting after tasting, Matt felt a gravitational pull towards the wines of the Rutherford Bench and was delighted to join the Staglin Family team as Assistant Winemaker in 2015. In 2018, he assumed the title of Associate Winemaker and after the 2022 vintage, he was promoted to Winemaker. These days, Matt stays involved in cellar and works in partnership with Director of Winemaking, Fredrik Johansson, to produce elegant wines that intentionally reflect the unique characteristics of each vintage and the expression of the Staglin Estate terroir. With his wife Johanna, he still enjoys traveling the world and expanding his understanding of wines around the globe.
