This intensive is ideal for anyone interested in leveling-up their own cabaret, burlesque, aerial, pole, flow arts, or variety act. It is also perfect for those new to the stage, who simply have a desire to perform!
“Stage Execution: How To Slay An Audience!”
Performing in front of a live audience can be an intimidating experience. This intimate performance intensive gives you the tools and practices needed to execute a confident and entertaining onstage act. You will cover two-dozen topics of study, over five 2-hour workshop classes. The intensive culminates with you, the student, debuting your live solo for a public audience, at S&S Productions next sizzling summer cabaret show on Saturday June 15th at The Belmont, 305 W 6th St.
Topics of study will include: creating your character, acting exercises, fundamentals of movement, walking, choreography theory, cuing and sequencing, music editing, prop and costume sourcing and usage, rehearsal philosophy, marketing, insurance, performing for different audiences, and much more… We will cover it all in depth and in person, in a small and safe group.
Then we will open ourselves up to the energy of a live crowd, and SLAY OUR AUDIENCE!
This intensive includes:
-Your live onstage performance on Saturday, June 15th at The Belmont!
-Curation of your very own unique solo
-In-studio dress rehearsal with notes
-Ten hours (five 2-hr classes) of in-studio workshop time with Sophie, including her custom literature for each class
-Constructive, accessible homework exercises
-Emailed (and optional social media forum) pre-course prep-work, instructions, and personal correspondence throughout the intensive

WHO? YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Sophie Murphy
Sophie has produced, emceed and performed in over 250 productions on dozens of stages around the country. She has taught over 4000 hours of pole, aerial, burlesque, and performance technique classes since 2005. Sophie attended university on both academic and vocal scholarships and earned her BA in Theatre and Dance from The University of Texas. In 2022, Sophie was awarded a grant by the Small Business Administration of America, for her work in continuing the art of live production since the pandemic. Sophie has created thousands of minutes of onstage opportunity for hundreds of performers both amateur and professional, from all over the country. She is thrilled to be hosting this new summer performance intensive!
*THIS IS A PERFORMANCE SERIES INTENSIVE TAKING PLACE ON SIX DATES: May 31, June 2, 7, 9, & 14, culminating in your performance on June 15. Students make ONE purchase to attend all events on all 6 dates. This series is for all persons over the age of 21. This is not a dance class. No dance or performance experience is necessary, however you may utilize any experience you have in developing your act. This intensive is focused on building and executing a confident, fun, polished, staged routine that will slay any audience. The only requirement is a desire to perform!
