ST RPC Peer Learning Collaborative Summit

Southern Tier RPC

Join us to learn the benefits of and how to establish a Peer Networking group in the Southern Tier.

The Southern Tier RPC's Peer Workforce Development Steering Committee is hosting a Peer Learning Collaborative Panel Event.Join us to learn about Peer Learning Collaborative (PLC) initiatives from across the state. A PLC is a group of peers from various backgrounds (CPS, CRPA, YPA, FPA & more!) who come together to provide mutual support, training, and networking. These groups often go by different names including Community of Practice, Peer Network, and more! However, their goals and mission are the same. With NYSOMH’s recently announced plans to work with CMS to improve access to Peer Services, among other related services, now is a time more than ever to ensure there is a strong & sustainable workforce to meet the demand. We look forward to further exploring how peers are learning from each other and supporting each other to partner with clinical service providers in our mutual goal of promoting community member recovery & health. We are excited to create a platform for groups around the state to discuss how critical the support, learning, and connections that occur in these groups are, as well as facilitate a discussion around how everybody interested can play a meaningful role around these efforts.Groups focus on: •	The dissemination of best practices,•	A commitment to peer values found in national practice guidelines,•	What these principles and practices look like when applied on the job,•	The refinement of skills needed to effectively deliver peer services,•	The sharing of community resources, and•	How the group can support each person’s own recovery.During the Coronavirus Pandemic, there has been a tremendous request for peer support, and subsequently the way peer support has been offered has shifted. Some of these groups quickly pivoted to virtual platforms, in which the vital support and learning that is especially needed during these times could exist.During this event, PLCs will share insight into how the Southern Tier can develop our own Peer Learning Collaborative and why such groups are vital to the Peer Workforce. Who Should Attend: Peers (any background, certified or not, working or not); Providers of Peer Services; Providers interested in offering Peer Services; Employment Specialists and Vocational CounselorsWhen: Monday August 24th, 10:00 to 11:30 AMHow: GoToMeeting link will be sent out to registrants prior to event
