About this event

Business • Environment & Sustainability

Join the 2030 District for an afternoon of inspiration and climate action. Come learn about opportunities to boost urban resiliency and improve our local waterways while accessing funding available to private developments.

Seattle Public Utilities is seeking developers and designers to integrate neighborhood-scale stormwater treatment in their projects. SPU’s Beyond Code Program has been launched to fund stormwater facilities that exceed a project’s stormwater code requirements.

What to Expect:

  • Hear from SPU’s Beyond Code Partnerships team, including the designers of the Northlake Commons Regional Swale, the first project to receive a Beyond Code financial incentive, that exceeded $500,000. Northlake Commons cleans neighborhood roadway runoff in an onsite bioretention swale. The team will highlight opportunities for other developments to incorporate green infrastructure on future projects.
  • Tour the Northlake Commons Regional Swale, learn about the Beyond Code financial incentives available.

Northlake Commons sets a new benchmark for environmentally conscious design, blending innovation with the natural beauty of Lake Union. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a project that embodies the principles of sustainable development.
