Springtime Bird Walk

Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studiesis an independent nonprofit center for environmental research. Since 1983, our scientists have been investigating the complex interactions that govern the natural world and the impacts of climate change on these systems. Our findings lead to more effective resource management, policy actions, and environmental literacy. Staff are global experts in the ecology of: cities, disease, forests, and freshwater.

Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, East Campus

On Saturday, May 6 from 8 - 10 am ET, join wildlife biologist Mike Fargione for a springtime bird walk on Cary&#x27;s grounds. In this guided walk, participants will learn about principles of ethical birding, how to use field guides and mobile apps, and of course, how to find and identify birds using binoculars. Whether you are an advanced birder or just starting to recognize your first species, all are welcome to join. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring drinking water and binoculars. This will be an easy to moderate hike of fewer than 2 miles on trails.This event is free and open to all, but space is limited, and registration is required. Questions? Call (845) 677-7600 x236.
