Calling all nature lovers, adventurers, and community-minded individuals! Get ready to make a positive impact while enjoying the stunning beauty of the Wolf River Channel. Shawano Paddlers is hosting a kayak clean-up event at the Lighthouse Boat Landing in Shawano, and we would love for you to be a part of it!

Whether you're a seasoned kayaker or just starting out, this event is perfect for all skill levels. Grab your kayak (canoe or paddleboard) and help us clean up the beautiful Wolf River Channel or Shawano Lake, ensuring its preservation for generations to come.

  • Bring your own boat (kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards welcome!)
  • Gloves and trash bags will be provided

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and bring water, sunscreen, and gloves. Trash bags and other clean-up supplies will be provided. If you have a trash picker upper, please bring it!

What is the goal of the clean-up event?

Our goal is to remove trash and debris from the river and lake to protect wildlife and improve the natural beauty of our waterways.

Can I volunteer if I don't want to kayak, canoe, or paddleboard?

Absolutely! We need volunteers on land to help with sorting and disposing of collected trash.

Shawano Pathways (SPOKES) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 incorporated in August 2011 and funded by annual membership dues, grants, and donations.  The organization formed in response to a growing need for trails and greenspaces in Shawano County, Wisconsin.  Our mission is to plan for and facilitate in the development, implementation and maintenance of a greenway and trails network within Shawano County and adjacent areas for recreation and alternative transportation, while preserving and restoring natural areas and resources connected with the trails.
