About this event

Do you already know your way around the machine basics, or just need a light refresher?

Did you make something and it turned out to not fit right? Or maybe you want to alter a garment?

Need assistance reading a pattern, or help with the steps of construction?

KFLY is here to share my 20years of knowledge and tools to help you make something you'll love, wear or gift.

Meating weekly on Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings we have access to a super long tall table, perfect for laying out patterns and cutting. We have zones where folx can spread out and sew on their own, or at the class sewing tables provided. We are supportive if you want to bring your own machine in, and we are also supplied with sergers and new machines from Quality Sew & Vacuum too.

W e have scissors, pins, chalk and rules, and mostly we have a desire to empower people to fix and make their own clothing.

A ll surfaces will be cleaned and we might require masks to be worn.

Things to note:

- This will include a fast refresher on the sewing machines, so some basic machine knowledge is a must! If you need beginner skills please take our Quick 101 class or the Tote Bag class first to feel confident. Hand sewing might be in order and we got the rulers, chalk, pins, scissors and seam rippers too.

- You must bring items that are laundered in some way, even a delicate hand wash will do. Dry cleaning is overrated so please email if you have further Qs on this matter, email down below.

- Due to the great sizing difference, only so much fabric in a seam allowance, not being able to conjure more material if items are damaged, please come with an open mind and maybe some back up fabric for patching, reworking, and playing with for a potential new lewk and outcome.

- Your magical instructor KFLY is one amazing creative engineer, especially after 25yrs of sewing, and is also still learning. She will do her best, is happy to research and answer all the Qs within class time, so let's get creative and stay flexible together.

I tems provided: Brand new machines we have from Quality Sew and Vac, pins, chalk, rulers, scissors, seam rippers, a huge tall table, lots of space and random thread & fabric.

Y ou bring: clean garments and fabrics to work with, a project idea you are flexible around problem solving, buttons, supplies that are pertinent to this specific project, and matching thread unless you wanna roll the dice with KFLY's extra thread (lots of grey.)

I f you are interested in this class, have an idea for a class, need this class at a different time of day, or have Qs that Ecosia can't answer please email us at kflyseattle@gmail.com
