Spring Migration at Point Reyes
Spring is an ideal time to enjoy a variety of birds in terrestrial and aquatic habitats. We'll practice identification by sight and sound.
Almost all of the migratory nesting birds have returned to the area while some of the wintering birds still linger. This is a great time of year for birding in Point Reyes.
This class will explore Bear Valley, the Giacomini Wetlands, and some coastal habitats to observe them. Identification of raptors, flycatchers, warblers, woodpeckers, shorebirds and other waterbirds by sight and sounds will be a major focus.
David Wimpfheimer is a professional naturalist and biologist. For over forty years David has pursed his passion, natural history of the American West. He enthusiastically shares his extensive knowledge about all aspects of the natural world with many groups including Smithsonian Institution, California Academy of Sciences, Road Scholar and Oceanic Society.
