About this event

  • 2 hours

This two hour walk will be beneficial to beginner foragers, or those seeking a deeper understanding of the plants and fungi surrounding them. We'll be covering a wide range of edible plants and how they can be used in the kitchen. We'll also cover any edible fungi we come across and show you how to safely identify these, as well as covering any poisonous species you need to avoid.

We will also discuss ethical foraging and why it's important to follow these guidelines in order to protect your local area and prevent degredation. Marbury park is also home to patches of ancient woodland so, if we have the time, I'll introduce you to some ancient woodland indicator species as well.

We'll be meeting at 10am at the main car park at Marbury park, just by the archway.
-Comfortable footwear is required and feel free to bring some lunch along.
-Children under 14 are free to tag along, but please make sure you explain how dangerous it can be if they eat the wrong thing.
-Dogs are more than welcome!

Please be warned we will not be collecting any plants or fungi from Marbury park, the site is already over-harvested by foragers, so this walk will be for teaching you how to safely identify the edible plants and fungi so you then feel comfortable enough to forage for your own ingredients in a less exloited area.
