Learn more about native Michigan spring ephemerals and see them firsthand on this guided hike at the Albert and Virginia Szok Preserve on May 2nd at 11 AM ! Attendees will discover more about these hardy and short-lived plants within this preserve on the Salt River, in Sanford. Please register to attend!

Hiking Conditions

This hike will consist of hiking on rustic grass trails, with potential wet and muddy conditions. Hiking pace will be slower, with time for stopping and observation along the way.


What to Bring

Attendees should dress for the weather and potentially wet and muddy trail conditions. Additionally, if available, attendees can bring relevant field guides for identification.


Directions

The Albert and Virginia Szok Preserve is an 8-acre preserve located within Pine Haven Recreational Area. If coming from Midland, take Saginaw road west into Sanford, then turning right on N W River Road. Take N W River Road for about a half mile before turning left onto W Maynard Road. Take W Maynard Road all the way to the end, where you will arrive at Pine Haven's gravel parking lot. We will meet at the parking lot trailhead before heading out as a group to the Szok Preserve.
