Spring Celebration & Egg Roll

The Parks at Walter Reed is a 66-acre redevelopment of the historic Walter Reed Army Medical Center, featuring multiple outdoor event areas on campus that are inviting, accessible,  and second to none in Ward 4. Anchored by the Great Lawn, the campus also boasts an Arts Plaza with a pergola stage and string lights. In addition, the 10,000-square-foot West Lot adjacent to the historic hospital provides an urban hardscape space that’s a perfect stage for projections, theater productions, festivals, and more. Additionally, a brand-new playground is conveniently located just 200 yards from the Arts Plaza and Great Lawn. The site is easily accessible by public transportation: 13 Georgia Avenue bus lines pass The Parks on 16th Street and Georgia Avenue NW, and the Takoma Metro Station is just a 13-minute walk.The Great Lawn, Arts Plaza, West Lot, and Playground are all ADA-accessible and compliant. The campus also offers ADA-compliant outdoor portable restrooms.

Celebrate spring with friends and neighbors on the gorgeous Great Lawn at The Parks at Walter Reed – and this is our 100th anniversary for this historic event! The first spring celebration and egg roll was held in 1923, and we are keeping the tradition alive. This year, the event will be during happy hour time, with a fun DJ, moonbounce for the kiddos, beverages to purchase, and amazing local food trucks. Come prepared to hunt for eggs and get moving with games, relay races, yoga, and more! All are welcome to this FREE event, but RSVP is requested so we have enough supplies and eggs! Saturday, April 15, 3-5 pm: Schedule
3:15 pm: Brief program
3:30 pm: Egg hunt for 2 &amp; 3-year-olds (bring your baskets)
4 pm: Egg hunt for 4 &amp; 5-year-olds (bring your baskets)
Older kids will be able to participate in moonbounces and lawn games, with plenty of egg giveaways for prizes. If the ground isn&#x27;t too wet, we&#x27;ll have blankets and some chairs out, so feel free to bring your own and a picnic lunch. How to Get There: Parking is limited on campus, so walking, scooting, biking, buses, and trains are recommended. The Parks at Walter Reed is a 12-minute walk from the Takoma Metrorail Station on the Red Line, and more than a dozen bus lines run up 16th Street NW and Georgia Avenue NW. Bike parking is available on campus. Some parking is available in on-street spots; please follow the signage.
