Spring Breakdown Contra Dance Weekend

For over 20 years Mid-Missouri Traditional Dancers has hosted Spring Breakdown. This successful  annual dance weekend features nationally known bands and callers, and draws dancers from across the Midwest and beyond.MMTD is a not-for-profit organization based in Columbia, Missouri, affiliated with theCountry Dance and Song Society.  We dance two to three times monthly.  We always dance to live music. All ages and experience levels welcome. No partner needed.

*PLEASE NOTE OUR COVID POLICY: All attendees are required to present a negative COVID test for admittance upon arrival for the weekend. A photo of the test on your phone or the test strip may be used. Please take a rapid home test within the 24 hours prior to your arrival. You will only need to show your test result once. Then you will pick up a dance button at the registration desk and show this button for all other events you attend. We will have some tests available at the door, but testing at the door will slow down registration for everyone. Please test before you arrive to help us make this a great experience for everyone! This policy is part of our arrangement with our band, who make their living playing music and are not all able to wear masks. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.*Featured band and caller: Elixir is a well-known and loved band that provides high energy dance music, WITH HORNS! Elixir blends driving fiddle and guitar with the rich texture and rhythmic excitement of a full horn section. Nils Fredland is one of the most sought-after callers in the business and calls with skill and infectious energy. He draws on a large and varied repertoire, from centuries-old &quot;chestnuts&quot; to cutting-edge contemporary dance choreography. T﻿ickets: Early Bird pricing has ended. Weekend passes are now $100 and are good for all weekend events. Hall&#x27;s Kitchen food truck will be on site from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm</li><li>10:00 am – 11:30 am - Waltz Workshop </li><li>11:45 am - 1:15 pm - Morris Dancing Workshop </li><li>1:30 pm – 3:00 pm - Playing Together: a workshop for musicians, callers, and dancers - Elixir/Nils	 	</li><li>3:30 pm – 5:00 pm - Challenging Contras Workshop - Elixir/Nils</li><li>7:30 pm – 10:45 pm - Evening Contra Dance - Elixir/Nils</li><li>10:45 pm – 12:45 am - Social and jam session - bring your own drinks, instruments, and sharable snacks	 	</li></ul>Sunday, March 19<ul><li>10:00 am – Noon - Potluck Brunch - Waffle bar, yogurt parfait bar, breakfast casseroles, coffee, and tea will be provided. Bring items, like fruit, pastries, etc. to add to the potluck. </li><li>Noon – 1:00 pm - Open Waltzing - NEW!
