Staatsburgh presents two, interactive Gilded Age themed programs for children ages 9-12 and their caregivers.
April 2 - "From Service to Society"
Staatsburgh State Historic Site is a time-capsule of a vanished age. In the April 2, program, From Service to Society, children will learn how life was lived in a Gilded Age mansion more than 100 years ago. Following a guided tour of the opulent home of Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills, children will play the role of either a servant, guest or family member in an activity that allows them to compare the lives of servants and the gentry.
April 3 - "Surviving the Titanic: An Interactive Writing (and Illustrating) Workshop"
On April 3, mark the 114th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic with a creative writing and drawing program, Surviving the Titanic, an Interactive Writing (and Illustrating) Workshop. As children and their caregivers tour the home of Titanic ticket holders, Ruth and Ogden Mills, DC Comics editor and writing instructor, Alisa Kwitney, https://alisakwitney.com/ will offer written and visual prompts inspired by Titanic passengers' tales of survival and courage.
Join us in the mansion for one, or both, Gilded Age themed programs for children ages 9 to 12 and their caregivers.
