Spotlighting Event
Join the Weed Busters for a thrilling night of red lights in the wild forests of Springbrook.
Join the Weed Busters for a thrilling night of red lights in the wild forests of Springbrook. Did you know that 70% of Australian mammals and 60% of insects are nocturnal? When the lights go out, the forest comes to life!
Thanks to Friends of Parks, Weed Busters are now the proud owners of 5 red LED torches. Why use red torches? Red torches are much less startling on animals, minimising the impact on their circadian rhythms and risk at being stunned and more vulnerable to prey. Some animals cannot even perceive red light, so at times they will continue on in their natural state unaware of the eager eyes of bystanders below.
Meet: Tallanbana Picnic Area
Time: 7-8:30pm
Bring: Long pants, closed in toe shoes, a regular torch (for guidance).
Bookings are essential as we can only have 15 people on this walk.
